Lockheed Martin has partnered with the Air Force to build the F-22. The contract value is approximately $11 billion. The team is developing the design, production tools and building nine flight-worthy aircraft. Two ground-test aircraft are also being built. In June 2002 the Air Force received their last F-22 EMD airplane.

Air Force F-22s are approximately $110,000,000 each. This includes the R&D necessary to make the aircraft. It also requires a lot of ground support equipment. Air Force officials are considering a F-22 with two seats, but these aircraft will likely cost around $150 million each.

The Lockheed Martin F-22 is a military jet that can cost up to $71.6 billion. This aircraft is currently used by the United States Air Force. The total cost of the project is approximately $71.6billion. 442 aircraft are planned.
Price
While the cost of an F-22 can be exorbitant, it's not as outrageous as some believe. In fact, an F-22 costs just over $200 million per aircraft. What about the F-35A, however? The Raptor costs $232.5 million more per aircraft than the F-35A.
Contract value
In August 1991, Lockheed Martin and Boeing were awarded contracts by the Air Force for the development of F-22 Raptor. Since then, the contract has increased to approximately $11 billion. The contract covers the design and development, production tooling and delivery of nine aircraft flightworthy and two ground-test planes. In June 2002, the Air Force received the last of these aircraft.
Maintenance costs
The cost of an F-22 is a factor in the decision-making process when it comes to aircraft purchases. Although the initial price tag for an F-35 aircraft was $170million, it has fallen to around $80 million. While it will cost slightly more to fly, the F-22 offers great value for your money.
Export studies
Congress mandates that the United States Air Force examine the exportability, cost, and importability of an F-22-configured F-22. The study was required by the 2009 Appropriations Act. The Air Force wanted more time to complete the study. It conducted similar studies previously on the Raptor which is currently being built in the United States. Lockheed Martin did an internal review of export potential in March 2009.
Future plans
The F-22 is an advanced stealth fighter, capable of supersonic flight. Its engines generate more thrust than any other fighter. The aircraft's aerodynamic design means it can cruise at supersonic airspeeds with no afterburner. This allows the aircraft to expand its operational area. The F-22 is equipped with a low drag coefficient as well advanced thrust vectoring flight control. The plane's advanced design has undergone extensive testing.
