Active camouflage (also known as adaptive camouflage) is a type of camouflage which adapts quickly to its environment. Adaptive visible camouflage
Adaptive visibility camouflage allows camouflage to change its color to blend into the surrounding environment. These camouflage systems are easily installed on any object without modification. The system consists of a series of flexible flat-panel electronic display units that cover an object's visible surfaces. Each panel is equipped with a four-color, high-power LED. The panels are controlled by a microcontroller as well as a high-current power supply. The system is equipped with color sensors which control the color intensity.
In the future, this technology can be used in many different fields. The light-driven dynamic surfaces wrinkles could be used for information storage and smart displays.
Optical camouflage
Active camouflage allows camouflage to adapt quickly to changing environmental conditions. Because it can adapt quickly to the environment, active camouflage is able provide total concealment from visual detection. Active camouflage is also known as adaptive camouflage. It can be used to hide from detection by hunters or other people.
Active camouflage works by covering an object with a screen and projecting a background image of the surrounding area. Although it obscures the object, it's not foolproof. It requires a 360 degree view and unpractical amount of cameras. This can cause lens distortions as well as resolution limitations.
Halo 2's active concealment generator
The active camouflag generator in Halo 2 allows you to blend into the surrounding environment. This feature allows you to blend in with the environment and can even be used to sneak behind enemy lines to perform assassinations. This feature is only useful in certain situations. The player must be aware of their surroundings, and take care when moving.
On different levels of Halo 2, active camouflage generators are available. It is located on the first floor of the Armoury. It is available after you have spoken with Sergeant Johnson. He will ask you if it would help if you said please after four minutes forty seconds.
