Space Wars and Post-Conflict Reactions

armed forces careers office

If we're going to be talking about space wars, there are many different options for military action. There are many strategies, doctrines and theories to choose from. Also, post-conflict reactions can be discussed. Space military action is complex and could even be more complicated than we imagine. This article will discuss some of the possibilities.

Theories

Space wars are a possibility in the future. As such, space power theories are important to understand the political underpinnings of space warfare. These theories can help promote strategic thinking and command judgment. However, they must be developed separately from air power theories. These theories are meant to inform people about the potential consequences of space-based operations.

Space warfare doctrines must be based upon a thorough understanding of the space environment and the forces that are involved. They also need to know how to fight in the space environment. This includes denial of the enemy's space capabilities, "blockade" of enemy launch facilities, and interception of ballistic missiles. It must be flexible enough to accommodate new technologies and hostiles in space.

Doctrine

Soviet doctrine was at the heart of the debate about military spacepower in the 1980s. The Soviets were able to use their own doctrine in outerspace, and the United States was determined to defend its nuclear strategic threat from an attack of the Soviet Union. In response, the United States decided to develop offensive space weapons to meet this threat. The Congress began to debate space control.

U.S. Space Force recently released "Spacepower," a new guiding paper. The doctrine is based upon Joint Publication 3-14 and outlines the military’s vision for space operations. The doctrine was published just weeks after the Pentagon's Defense Space Strategy. The doctrine describes the Space Force's central role during space operations and describes the Space Force as "defending space domain."

Strategies

Space wars are not like conflict on Earth and require highly developed technological systems. Space weapons are highly risky and could result in the collapse of U.S. space policy. A space war could be devastating for the United States, and the whole world. Military leaders are working to implement space warfare military tactics in order to avoid such a catastrophic outcome.

Many theories of space warfare include many different concepts and approaches. These concepts encompass all aspects of the nation's operations in a given medium. Space warfare can be an extension of this strategy. It can be based upon military, technological, and airpower theories.

Post-conflict reactions

In recent years, the United States and China have been developing space weapons that are not kinetic, but can still cause damage. Russia has coorbital weapons and China has direct ascent weapons. These weapons are launched into orbit and then maneuvered towards their target. Non-kinetic space weapons, such as jamming and lasers, are also available. Clearly, these are not ideal weapons for combat, but they are a viable alternative for both sides.

Space forces must be protected from potential enemies in the future. These adversaries are increasing their space weaponry capabilities. China's counterspace arsenal, while less dangerous than Russia's satellite fleet, will pose a significant threat to the future. Therefore, commercial space must be protected. If not, future wars will be fought blindly.
