Submarine of Akula Class

military technology pdf

Submarines allow warships to operate underwater for long periods. They can usually be equipped with torpedoes (or missiles) and are capable of operating underwater. They are used in times of war to strike enemy naval vessels. They are also used in deep sea rescues and research.

The Akula Class submarine is an example of a nuclear powered submarine that was manufactured and operated by the Soviet Navy during the Cold War. It is the longest submarine class and contains nine ships, which can dive up 70% deeper than American counterparts.

These submarines, which are nuclear powered, can be operated at depths of up to 4,400m. They can reach speeds up to 20 knots when they are submerged and 11 at the surface.

TYPE 94/99 SIERRA CLASS (Project 941 Akula)

The sierra-class is a nuclear-powered attack submarine that was designed by the Russian Navy and is now in service. These submarines can dive to 520 meters thanks to their titanium pressure hull. They are also capable of reducing radiated sound and increasing their torpedo resistence.

A large diesel-electric tug can pull the submarine at speeds up of 30 knots. They can be fitted with a variety of weaponry including multiple-warhead submarine-launched ballistic missiles, tactical cruise missiles, and torpedoes.

They can also carry wire-guided heavyweight underwater and surface torpedoes.

These submarines can support up to 4,200m depth underwater while under attack and have a total displacement weight of 15,900 tonnes.

It is armed with eight torpedo tubes that can hold a total of 18 heavyweight wire-guided surface and underwater targets torpedoes. They can also be equipped with mines and SM39 Exocet Anti-shipping Missiles.

INS Chakra 2 & INS Akula are nuclear powered submarines built by Russia for Indian Navy. These submarines can be found in the Indian Ocean and are used to deter Chinese vessels from patrolling the waters.

India needs a very rapid submarine building program to protect its interests in International Waters, especially between the Strait of Hormuz and the Strait of Malacca, where they can be used to deter competitors. They must also develop surveillance capabilities to detect other submarines in Indian Ocean.

These submarines travel fast and can reach targets quickly. They can also withstand high yield stresses and hydro-static force.

They are usually manned by one or two crew members but may have up to six or nine crew members, depending on the type of sub.

There are many kinds of submarines. Each one has its own specifications and features. Some are personal submarines and others are submersibles for military or naval purposes.

Nuclear Powered and Armed Submarines ("SSN") are the most widely used types of submarines. These are marines with unlimited endurance and high speeds, can carry missiles and can complement carriers battle groups.
