
Current us military operations are a vital component of the United States national security strategy. They aim to protect our homeland, our allies, and our citizens throughout the world and maintain our nation's edge in the global arena.
The causes of war and conflict are often political, economic, and strategic decisions. It is not always as easy as an enemy firing a missile or sending a warship to war. They could also result from the United States responding quickly to unanticipated disasters or natural disasters, conducting an evacuation operation non-combatant or protecting our homeland from Russian aggression.
We have fought five officially declared wars, and many other forms of military engagement that were authorized by Congress or United Nations Security Council Resolutions. Other types of military engagements include international humanitarian aid, counter-drug and anti-terrorism missions, and peacekeeping operations.

Afghanistan, 2018
The Afghan security landscape is still marked by persistent tensions and challenging conditions. These challenges threaten US interests and partnership in this area of responsibility. As part of the ongoing fight insurgency effort in Afghanistan, there is a strong focus on training, advising and supporting Afghan National Defense and Security Forces. This partnership includes the United States.
Yemen, 2018
The lives of Yemenis continue to be at risk because of the complex and contested civil war. This war, fueled by the Saudi-led coalition in support of the Government of Yemen, requires continued engagement and support from the United States to help the people of Yemen gain greater stability and freedom.
Pakistan, 2019
The President directs a variety of military activities in the United States. These activities include helping foreign countries fight terror, training local forces, and combating extremists and other rogue elements. These efforts often involve the Army.
Israel, 2019
The Army is an integral part of the defense of Israel. It provides military support to the Israeli Defense Forces. These forces include command and control units, infantry and armored troops, as well as airborne and airborne special operations forces. The Army provides support to the U.S. Embassy and other United States missions in Israel.

Middle East, 2019,
The Middle East remains a volatile and complex region that continues pose a threat to our security. The President directs the United States in many military activities in the Middle East. These operations include military assistance, training, counterterrorism, combating terrorism, and supporting Iraqi, Syrian, and other rebel elements in their wars against terrorist group.
Strategically placed, CENTCOM’s AOR serves to defend against Iran-directed instabilities, maintain a presence and enhance the United States’ strategic advantage in this region as part Great Power Competition. CENTCOM has a long track record of fostering peace and stability in the region, countering transnational threats and strengthening security cooperation. It also supports US-led security alliances.
