Polish Tank PL 01

unmanned aerial vehicles

OBRUM Systems' advanced tank, the PL-01 was developed in collaboration with BAE Systems. It was revealed for first time in 2013, and is based upon the Swedish CV90120T medium tanks. It has a primary weapons consisting of a either 105mm, or 120mm cannon in an unmanned turret.

Adaptiv Technology

According to reports, the new Polish tank pl 01 can "cloak" its radar and heat signatures to fool enemy sensors. This is similar to what Boeing used for Bird Of Prey. The entire vehicle is thought to be covered with radio-absorbing materials. It also has an exhaust cooling system that makes it difficult to detect.

Invisible Armor

The armor of this tank is said to be so effective at absorbing radiation that it is virtually invisible to enemy radars. It is also capable of controlling temperature and fooling thermal sensors.

Adaptiv technology is a big deal in modern tanks, as it's a much more effective way to conceal a vehicle than traditional radar-reflecting coatings. The Adaptiv system uses hexagonal Peltier plates to cover the vehicle's surface. These plates can absorb or reflect sunlight, rendering it virtually indestructible at night or during bad weather.

It may also be capable of fooling infrared and visual sensors. The Adaptiv technology is believed to be able to reduce the radar and heat signatures of the PL-01, but it is still not clear how this will work or what it will do to the overall vehicle.

Polish Army

The Polish army is currently equipped with around 900 main-battle tank, with the most common being the PT-91 Twardys as well as Leopard 2s. The PL-01 modern tank is an attractive option that will prove to be a significant vehicle for the Polish Army in the near future.

This tank is intended to serve as a fire support vehicle, with a maximum crew size of three. It can also be used in urban combat zones. It comes equipped with a smoothbore cannon of either 105mm to 120mm that can fire conventional rounds or anti-tank guided bullets. It can store 29 rounds in its autoloader, and 16 more rounds in the turret.

The other armament include a 7.62mm machine gun, remote-controlled weapon station, and a 40mm automated grenade launcher.

Obrum is developing the PL-01, a prototype direct-fire support tank. Technical support is provided by British conglomerate BAE Systems. It measures 7 meters in length, 3.8 metres wide, and 2.8 meters tall. Its weight standard is 30 tons. With additional armor panels, this vehicle can carry 35 tons.

Interior

The interior of the PL-01 is designed to be comfortable and convenient for the crew. The PL-01's interior features a "crew member's safety capsule" within the chassis, multilayer ceramic aramid armor, and modern crew seats that lessen the effects of IED blasts and mines. It is covered by STANAG 4569 Level 4a/4b, and has an anti-mine coating on all sides.
