There was actually a successful revolution that took place in Tunisia, as well as a civil war in Syria and other unrest throughout the Middle East. The study was done in Northern Tunisia, which is very similar to the US. It compares the pre- and post-revolution tally of suicide and homicide. According to the above study, the number homicides in Northern Tunisia was only 1.8 per 100,000 people annually, but it rose to 3.12 per 100k people per year following the revolution. Also, the number of suicides rose 1.7 times after the revolution. This is a statistically significant rise and should be a concern not only for government officials but also for the country's youth. Due to both increasing rates of death, healthcare systems across the nation will need to adapt to meet these challenges.
