Chinese J-16 Fighter Jets

The Chinese J-16 fighter airframes are currently in service for the People's Liberation Army Air Force. The aircraft are equipped both with an electronic control system and a modified AESA radio. They can track both aerial and surface targets simultaneously. Additionally, they can be operated in all weather conditions. These fighters are also capable of carrying out air-to–air or air–to–ground combat operations.

Shenyang Aircraft Corporation is the company that developed the J-16, a fourth-generation Chinese twinengine strike fighter. It was built from the Soviet-era Su-30 Flanker aircraft. The J-16 can detect and engage targets with its advanced electronic scanned radar and glass cockpit. The PL-10 airto-air weapon has high sensitivity, and thrust vector control. This weapon can hit multiple air targets reliably, including helicopters and antiaircraft missiles.

The Royal United Services Institute says that the J-16 Chinese multi-role fighter is the most advanced. The aircraft is currently in mass production. China intends to build at most 90 of these aircraft in 2019. Many analysts believe that the aircraft was built in response to India’s Dassault Rafale fighters. The aircraft will not replace the Su-30MKI and Su-27UBK currently in service.

China recently deployed 39 warplanes to Taiwan's air defense zone. The aircraft included 24 J-16s. During this period the fighters engaged into mock battles against the enemy. Although the J-20 jets and the J-16 jets were flying head-to-head during the attack, the J-20 was not able to escape.

Chinese state media has reported about the J-16's superiority. The J-16 is said to be superior to the Su-30. Jiang Jiaji, a PLAAF pilot, who won three Golden Helmet contests, has been reportedly involved in ground attack exercises using rocket projectiles. He claimed that the J-16 is coated with silver-gray painting, which he recorded on CCTV in early 2019

Numerous experts have said that Russia is behind the aircraft in many aspects. Some have warned that China is planning to reverse-engineer the engines of the Su-35 jet. It is not known whether China can produce enough engines in order to make J-15 and J-16 fighters.

J-16 is a new generation Chinese twin-engine fighter striker. Shenyang Aircraft Corporation also owns the J-11. Developed from the J-11, the J-16 has the capability to detect and engage target in real time. The aircraft is currently in production and has already completed several test flights since the beginning of 2014.

The People's Liberation Army Air Force is stepping up efforts to replace the aging fighter jets. A number of hundred fighters are currently in active service and it is hoped these aircraft will be capable of taking on Indian and Russian combat planes. China has also invested in new engines, and electronic warfare capabilities to make the aircraft more reliable. China will need to slow down the production of the jet, even though the new engines have not been fully developed.

Twenty years ago, the Soviet Union was successful again. The success of the Chinese aviation industry is repeated by the Chinese. J-16s and fighters were deployed by the Chinese airforce into the airspace in Taiwan, a breakaway province.
