
The United States military operations of today are a critical component of its national security strategy. They aim to protect our homeland, our allies, and our citizens throughout the world and maintain our nation's edge in the global arena.
Our wars and conflicts are the result of political, economic and strategic choices and are often not as simple as an enemy launching a warship or firing a missile. They could also result from the United States responding quickly to unanticipated disasters or natural disasters, conducting an evacuation operation non-combatant or protecting our homeland from Russian aggression.
Five formally declared wars have been fought, as well as many other military engagements authorized by Congress and United Nations Security Council Resolutions. Other types of military engagements include international humanitarian aid, counter-drug and anti-terrorism missions, and peacekeeping operations.

Afghanistan, 2018
The Afghan security landscape is still marked by persistent tensions and challenging conditions. These challenges threaten US interests and partnership in this area of responsibility. A significant part of the partnership with the United States is also focused on the training, advice, and support of the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces.
Yemen, 2018
The lives of Yemenis are at risk due to the ongoing conflict in Yemen. To help Yemeni people gain stability and freedom, the Saudi-led coalition supporting the Government of Yemen is fueling this war.
Pakistan, 2019
The President directs numerous military activities within the United States. These operations include everything from training local troops to supporting foreign countries against terrorists to fighting extremist groups. These operations often include the Army playing a significant role.
Israel, 2019
The Army has a key role in Israel's defense. They provide military forces for the Israeli Defense Forces. These forces can include infantry as well as armored, airborne and special operations units. Command and control units are also included. The Army provides support for the U.S Embassy in Israel and other United States missions.

Middle East 2019,
The Middle East continues its instability and complexity, which poses a serious threat for the security of our country. The President directs the United States in many military activities in the Middle East. These operations include counterterrorism, military assistance and training, combating terrorism and supporting the Iraqi and Syrian government in their wars against terrorist groups and other rogue elements.
Strategically, CENTCOM's AOR can be used to protect against Iran-directed instability and maintain a safe presence. It also helps to increase the United States' strategic advantage in the region as part Great Power Competition. CENTCOM has a long history in fostering stability and regional peace, countering transnational menaces, strengthening security co-operation, and supporting the US-led security coalitions in this area.
